Summer Reading Program

 Summer Reading at the Carpenter Memorial Library!

Summer Reading Program sign up and reading logs will be available at the Library after July 5th.  Keep track of hours read and when your reading log is complete, return it to the library to be entered in the prize lottery! 

A weekly themed event "Oceans of Possibilities," will be held from July 22nd through August 26th.  Events are on friday mornings from 9 am - 10 am.  

Weekly Events

July 22nd:  Summer Reading Kick Off! Special guest Cora Fife will present a display of sea life.

July 29th:  Explore the ocean with a reading of "Pete the Cat: Scuba Cat" and craft  your own snorkel gear. Then navigate an "under water" obstacle course. 

August 5th:  Buried Treasure!  Activities include creating Eye Spy Bottles and a Sea Squish bag

August 12th:  A reading of "All the Way to The Ocean" that tells the story of two friends and their discovery of the cause and effect relationship between city storm drains and the world's oceans, lakes and rivers. Afterwards do a neighborhood park clean up walk. 

August 19th:  The problem with plastic. Conduct an experiment on water currents and trash and explore the impact of trash on marine life. 

August 26th:  Summer Reading Finale Party! Rock painting, scavenger hunt and fun with decoding secret  messages.  Special treats (TBD)!
