Donations Policy

Carpenter Memorial Donations Policy

We welcome materials donations, but we do have some guidance to best help our collection.

  • All donations have costs associated with them including time for evaluation, cataloging and processing.  We do not guarantee that any donation will make it into the library’s collection.  Due to the labor involved in processing donations, individual materials will not be returned after evaluation.
  • Donations not added to our collection will be given to our Friend’s of the Library group book sale. All proceeds from their sales go directly back to the Library to purchase materials, fund programs, or provide other items to enrich library services.
  • The Library is often asked to include donations of independently published works or works by local authors.  We can accept these materials as preview copies for evaluation, but we cannot guarantee that these works will be added to the collection.  Items that are not added will be donated to the Friends of the Library for re-sale.
  • Donations must be brought to the circulations desk during open hours.  If you have donations of more than 1 box, we ask that you call the circulation desk at 509-674-2313 to let us know before arriving and to verify that we can receive them.
